“THE BIRDCAGE” ART DECO FACADES
AutoCAD, Technical Drawing, Production Design
Solo Project
SCAD | Winter 2024
For this project I was given an excerpt of the script for “The Birdcage” (1996) and I was to create the drafting and paint elevations for the facades required for that scene. Growing up in Miami, these Art Deco buildings were the backdrop of my youth so capturing how the salty air makes building paint jobs hazy and pastel was absolutely essential.
Front Elevation & Plan View
I made this within less than a month of opening AutoCAD for the first time and had five days to work on this particular project, from initially reading the script, to visual research, to drafting, and then finally adding color with the app Procreate. Since this project, AutoCAD has seamlessly integrated with my workflow in such a way that allows me to accurately communicate the scale of the design I create.
